The Ideal Diet For a Pear Body Type

Losing weight and staying fit is not a walk in the park. Trust me, I know! And because there are so many diets, exercises and other weight loss methods out there that claim to work, it’s easy to never really find one that works for you. Here’s a good example: Have you ever wondered why a certain diet plan worked for your friend but didn’t on you? Well, it’s probably because you didn’t know that there’s no one-size-fits-all diet. Women with pear body types have a defined waistline, while the hips and thighs tend to be bigger than the rest of the body. Many pear-types also have a little “pooch” of fat that is stored below the belly button, not above.

If that sounds like you, you’re in the right place. This pear body type diet plan is exactly what you need to help you either lose weight or stay fit.

Why you gain weight around your hips and thighs

Before we get into finding the right diet plan for you, it’s important to first understand why you gain weight only in specific areas. Hormones basically tell our bodies where to store fat.

The pear body type is associated with estrogen dominance, which basically means that the levels of estrogen are higher compared o those of progesterone. Because of this, pears experience toxic fat gain, water retention, bloating, mood swings, anxiety and decreased sex drive.

Estrogen can be produced by the body as well as taken in from food.

Foods pears should eat

High fibre fruits and vegetables should be incorporated into a pear body type’s diet because fibre helps to move hormones, especially excess estrogen, out of our body.

Dairy promotes the production of estrogen and therefore, pears should avoid high-fat dairy foods. Stay away from cheese and ice cream and instead choose foods such as low-fat yogurt with some fresh berries and cinnamon.

Also, choose healthy fats that come from food (nuts, seeds, avocado, olives) rather than oils.

Foods pears should avoid

Because the culprit for fat being deposited on the thighs and hips is estrogen, pears should avoid a diet loaded with foods that promote its production.

Foods that promote more estrogen production include high-fat dairy, caffeine, alcohol, trans fats and un-fermented soy foods.

Processed meats such as sausages and bacon should be avoided as they are high in sodium, which causes water retention and makes your pooch more visible.

Size of meals

The size of meals matters for pears especially. Pears should eat like a pyramid: small breakfast, moderate lunch and a bigger dinner. Unnecessary snacking before lunch or after dinner should be avoided. This body type should also avoid eating or snacking after 7 pm. This is generally not great for anyone, but for Pears especially. If you need to eat later, then focus on high fibre, vegetable-based meals or snacks.
