You are probably here because you fall in the pear body shape category and you are wondering what to wear to complement your features.

Having a pear body shape means that your hips are the widest part of your body.

Therefore, when choosing your clothes go for outfits that elongate your figure so that you look less bottom-heavy. The goal here is to balance your hips and shoulders while showing off your curves.

Here are some things to keep at the back of your mind when picking out outfits for pear body shapes:

Tops

When choosing tops foe this kind of shape, remember that you want to draw the attention from bottom heavy part of the body.

Outfit your upper body in bold colors, big prints and bold statements. These catch the eye at the top, making your shoulders and chest seem a bit broader than they actually are.

Off-shoulder tops are also a great choice for pear-shaped women because you attract to the shoulders and keep it off from the bottom half.

Ruffle tops and puffy sleeves also do a great job in helping to give the illusion of fuller upper body which is proportionate to the bottom half.

Pants

The key to getting it right with pants for pear shapes is to go with dark colours. This is because dark colours have a slimming effect and therefore, they will draw the attention away from the hips.

High waisted pants are your best friend because they help cinch the waist and bring out your curves.

Instead of skinny pants and jeans, opt for slim straight pants that skim the thighs rather than squeezing them. This helps give your legs volume and balance them with your wide hips.

Dresses/Skirts

When looking for dresses, avoid those that are tight and stick to your hips. Aline dresses or those that have tulip skirts are the best for you.

Dresses get bonus points if they are banded around the waist and cover up your shoulders to give the illusion of bulk.

The same goes for skirts. Avoid pencil skirts and instead go for those with flare.

Jackets and Coats

With coats and jackets, the goal is the same as the tops. Choose bold prints and bright colours to give the illusion of a fuller upper body.

Make sure that your jackets do not have ruffles at the end if they are cropped. This is because we do not want to add more volume to the hips.

For long coats, make sure they are cinched at the waist with a belt for a more defined waist.
