Low blood pressure
Consuming garlic in high quantities can result in low blood pressure which is dangerous. Theories suggest that garlic can make blood pressure fluctuate for people who suffer from low blood pressure. For that reason, they should consume limited amounts of garlic.
Garlic can prolong bleeding and interfere with blood pressure and this is yet another reason why it might not be a superfood. If you have been scheduled for surgery it is important to avoid consuming garlic a few days before the procedure. To be sure, consult with your doctor.
Research has shown that people who consume large amounts of garlic end up suffering from constant episodes of diarrhoea. This is because when garlic is digested, it’s broken down to sulfur which is acidic and will cause a stomach upset.
