Do you know that some of your everyday habits could be fastening the rate at which your skin is aging?
In your 20s and 30s, you don’t expect to worry about your skin aging. However, some of the habits you are doing now and then will have you looking older than you are.
Wrinkles and dull skin can be extremely worrying before hitting the age of 40.
If it were it up to us, we would choose to stay forever young.
Here are some of the everyday habits that age your skin before your time:
Sleeping in Makeup
After a long day at work or running errands, it can be tempting to skip your skin routine and sleep in makeup. Bad idea.

It’s been proven that makeup usually traps dirt inside the skin which then causes clogged pores.
When you skip your skincare routine repeatedly, it will result in premature ageing.
Skipping Sunscreen
Most coloured women believe that they don’t need sunscreen and that it is only for white people.
However, this is a myth. Black women still need to wear sunscreen.

When continuously exposed to the sun, collagen, the primary component of skin that helps it retain its youthful appearance is broken down.
It is, therefore important to make it a habit to start wearing sunscreen on very hot days and avoid premature skin aging.
Not Wearing Sunglasses
Sunglasses are as important as wearing sunscreen, especially on a hot, bright day. Why? Because on a very bright day, we tend to squint our eyes.

Squinting affects the skin around the eyes, which is usually thinner and more delicate than in other areas of our bodies.
Over time, this habit of squinting your eyes causes the skin around the eyes to wrinkle, making you look much older than you are.
Eating too much sugar
You have probably heard of the numerous harmful side effects of sugar, so hearing that it fastens your skin aging should not come as a surprise.
Sugar tends to cause dirk circles, wrinkles and dehydration of skin. These three then cause your skin to age and appear dull.
Stress
Stress is the number one most common habit that causes premature aging of the skin.
Don’t believe me? Well, studies have shown that stress can age your brain, increase your blood pressure, and disrupt your sleeping habits, all of which combined can make you look older.

Stress is inevitable. However, you can always tone it down it by taking baths after long days, meditating etc. so that it doesn’t speed up your aging process.
Not Sleeping Enough
People think I’m crazy and over the top for sleeping as early as 9 pm and waking up the next day at 6 am.
What they don’t know is, your sleeping patterns affect how your skin looks like and the rate at which it ages.

Skin automatically regenerates and repairs itself at night. Skipping out on sleep cuts on the time that your skin rejuvenates itself.
Therefore, over time, your skin becomes dull and starts aging prematurely.
Some other habits that usually cause premature skin aging include drinking caffeinated drinks, not exercising, over use of alcohol among others.
