5 Types of Hats Every Woman Should Invest In

At one point in life, we’ve all had bad days. And, nothing’s more disastrous than having a bad hair day but having so many errands and things to do. So what do you do in this situation? Do you rock your messy hair or do you get a quick fix for that by covering it up with a hat? Your guess is as good as mine. You obviously go for a hat. And even though, you might be thinking that wearing a hat might throw off your style, that’s really not the case. In this piece, I’ll share with you 5 types of hat that you should invest in just in case of a bad hair.

Beret

This style of hat is associated with elegance and style and of course typically associated with the French.

Sometimes called a ‘flat hat’ a beret is a round, soft, flat hat with extra material around the edges, giving it that extra ‘pouf’. As the French do, keep it effortless and chic by pairing with a boat neck top tucked into a pleated midi skirt, or high waist sailor jeans. Finish your look with a red lip.

Baseball Cap

Athleisure anyone? A baseball cap is so versatile because it looks good with almost any outfit. But to really nail this look, pair the baseball cap with a pair of skinny jeans, sneakers and a leather jacket for that model-off-duty look. Alternatively, in replacement of skinny jeans, leggings will also work with this look.

Boater

Also called a ‘skimmer’, the boater is traditionally made of straw, featuring a small to medium-sized brim, a short crown and a flat top. This is a great hat for women during brunch under the sun, so think casual chic when styling.

Pair it with a light sundress and strappy sandals, or with a kimono, t-shirt and shorts combo.

Bowler

It may be a hat that was popular in the early 1900’s, but bowlers are slowly making a comeback, favoured for its elegant, formal look.

Take a leaf out of Charlie Chaplin’s book and style it with a more feminine outfit: Think pants, preferably jeans, a well-fitted t-shirt and a leather jacket.

Bucket

Definitely opt for a streetwear-inspired look with this hat. This hat can be worn effortlessly by both men and women. Think joggers, cropped tops and a bomber jacket, finished off with a pair of strappy heels or stiletto ankle boots for a touch of glam.

I recommend choosing a bucket hat with an interesting print or pattern to add a touch of fun to your outfit, but if you prefer a little subtlety, opt for one with a printed underside instead.

Good tips!! I love to wear hats but I don’t think I look nice in them because I have a small head. Most times they don’t fit well. I personally do not like baseball caps for any activity including outdoors/jogging
