The long awaited 2021 is finally here! You will have to excuse my language but 2020 was such a shitshow, right?! Honestly, guys, 2020 is one of those years that I think were sent straight from hell. Our lives were completely disrupted and life as we knew it, changed. It almost felt as if we were back to living in the dark ages where we didn’t know if we were going to see the next day. But 2021 is here. It’s actually very naive that we think somehow, 2021 is going to be different. But one thing for sure is that we have learnt how to live with the virus and slowly but surely, life is going back to normal. And if you know me, you know that one of my favourite normal is getting to travel the world. With flying regulations slowly easing across countries, my number oine goal this year is to see the world. And with that, I thought I’d share some tips on some of the things you always have to consider when planning your yearly travels.

Do lots of research

The very first thing you should do when planning your yearly travels is to do a lot of research about your destination. I’ll admit that travelling to a foreign country is a little bit intimidating. You are venturing somewhere completely new and you really don’t know what things will be like there when you arrive. Which is why it’s important to research a travel destination before you go.

Thankfully, there are lots of places you can get the information you are looking for including YouTube and the internet in general. Researching about your travel destination will help you be prepared for what to expect in terms of the weather, culture and food.

Have a budget

After you have done your research, the next important thing to do is come up with your budget for the trip. Budgeting for a trip can give you a peace of mind, especially if you’re going on a long trip, and make sure that you won’t run out of money halfway through the trip. There’s nothing worse than going on the most awesome, anxiously anticipated, out-of-this-world vacation and coming home to mounds of debt as a thank you gift.

Budget for your plane tickets, accommodation, food, airport transfers and anything else you might thing about and give your budget an allowance of increasing in the case of emergencies.

Airport transfers

The one thing you cannot forget to consider when planning your yearly travels is how you will move from the airport to your hotel. It goes without saying that booking a transfer before you leave home will make traveling all that bit less stressful.

Before you book your airport transfer, though, be sure to obtain a quote for a fixed price. Many companies will give you a price but neglect to mention that parking is extra, waiting is not included, there’s a premium for travelling at night etc. So, make sure to ask all these questions before booking.

Currency exchange rate

Efficient currency conversion can make a significant difference to your travel budget. If you have the luxury of planning for your trip a couple of months in advance, keep an eye on the exchange rate movement between your home and destination currencies. A simple Google search will show you the present interbank exchange rate.

Avoid exchanging your currency at exchange kiosks which may be conveniently located in the airport. These may offer the most convenient option for travelers who have just touched down and have no local currency. However, as the premiums charged by these exchange desks are among the highest, you should try to avoid them.

There you have it guys. Those are the top most things you should consider anytime you are planning to travel.
