Things You Must Do in Preparation for an Intimate Waxing Appointment

For newbies and even seasoned women in the waxing department, the days before the actual intimate waxing appointment can be daunting. Getting a bikini wax is painful. That’s given. But more and more women are doing it to stay hair-free down there. So if you’re feeling tensed up for your next intimate waxing appointment, not to worry. This article will share with you some tips to make the process a little less scary and hopefully less painful. Here are5 things you should do before your next intimate waxing appointment.

Exfoliate before your appointment

Spa owners and dermatologists agree that you have to exfoliate your skin two or three days before a waxing appointment. Exfoliation helps to remove the dead skin around the intimate area and therefore reduce the risk of ingrown hairs that develop after waxing. Ingrown hairs occur when some hairs get stuck underneath the skin and aren’t removed during the waxing process. This can then lead to an infection on the skin around this area. Exfoliating ensures that any ingrown hair will be more accessible during a session so they can be removed from the skin.

When choosing exfoliants for this area, make sure to reach for gentle products that won’t interfere with the natural PH of the vagina. You can use a loofah, washcloth, or exfoliating sponge with unscented soaps to gently exfoliate your skin before shaving.

Hydrate ahead of the waxing appointment

If your skin is dry, that means your hair is dry, and your hair could break when you get waxed, no matter how great the specialist is. This will in turn cause the waxing procedure to be very painful and give you less than a smooth and clean shave.

Drinking water will soften up your skin and ensure that you get a close shave the next time you get a wax. Amp up your water intake every day leading up to your wax appointment and stay away from alcohol and caffeine because these can be dehydrating.

Let your hair grow out

Think you should trim your hair or even shave a bit before your waxing appointment? Don’t!

It is recommended to let your pubic hair grow to at least the size of a grain of rice. Letting it grow to this size ensures you get the cleanest and smoothest shave because the wax will have enough hair to grab on to. Additionally, this length can make your appointment less painful.
