A bright, clean and white smile not only looks great, but it ensures you have fresh breath. Having white teeth and fresh breath can potentially improve your life.

Not only do these two factors help you out in the dating scene, but your smile might also contribute to securing that dream job.

Even though oral hygiene has proven to be an important factor in our everyday life, a lot of people still don’t put as much effort into it.

Below are some tips on what your oral hygiene routine should look like, so your teeth can remain beautiful and healthy:

Brushing your teeth

I know what you’re possibly thinking. Who doesn’t know how to brush teeth?

The question here should be, are you brushing your teeth the correct way? According to dentists, 80 per cent of adults brush their teeth in the wrong way.

For white teeth and fresh breath, always hold your brush at a 45-degree angle pointed towards the gums when brushing.

Additionally, dentists recommend that you brush your teeth twice in a day, for 2 minutes, spending an equal amount of time (30 seconds) in each quadrant of your mouth.

A toothpaste that contains Flouride is the best to achieve white teeth and fresh breath.

Flossing

Most of the times, even after brushing teeth, we have bad breath. This is caused by food particles stuck in between our teeth that toothbrushes can’t reach.

That’s why you have to incorporate flossing into your daily oral hygiene.

Always floss once a day and make sure to use at least 45 cm of floss.

When flossing, wrap each end around your fingers and gently lower it in between your teeth and follow the curve of your teeth to avoid damaging your gums

Cleaning Your Tongue

Cleaning your tongue is an important oral hygiene because it gives you fresh breath.

Most of the time when our mouth has a bad odor, it is usually from food particles stuck on the tongue.

You can either use a toothbrush, floss or a tongue scrapper to clean your tongue.

Rinsing Your Mouth

After brushing and flossing your teeth, rinsing your mouth with water is not enough.

For fresh breath, it is recommended that you use an antimicrobial mouthwash like Listerine to rinse the mouth for 30 seconds twice a day.

Visit the dentist regularly

To keep your teeth healthy and white, a trip to the dentist once in a while is important.

Additionally, regular check-ups and cleanings will help you maintain fresh breath.

Eat Raw Fruits and Veggies

For a healthier mouth, switch up your diet and incorporate more fruits and vegetables and avoid acidic foods.

Sweets, coffee, garlic are some of the things we eat and eventually cause bad breath and stained teeth.

Eating foods such as nuts, raw carrots, apples, and cauliflower can help keep your teeth clean by removing surface stains and plaque that leads to cavities and bad breath.

Rinse with Apple Cider Vinegar

Rinsing your teeth with apple cider vinegar is a natural and organic way to maintaining white teeth and fresh breath.

Mix two parts water to one part apple cider vinegar, then swish the solution around your mouth for one minute.
