When it comes to wearing makeup at the office, finding the right balance between professionalism and beauty can be tricky.
Whether we like it or not, impressions at workplaces play a big role in how fast you progress in your career. This is why you need to make the right impression with your makeup.
It doesn’t matter whether you are the CEO or a low level professional. The dos and don’ts of wearing makeup at the office are pretty much standard.
Here are some great tips I have picked up on to professionally wear makeup at the office:
Dos: With foundation, wearing less for an office look is a yes. Always go for a very slight amount of foundation.
A natural look is the key wearing makeup at the office, not unless you work at a fashion store or a night club.
Don’ts: Heavy foundation can look cakey and can be a distraction even when your outfit is office-appropriate.
To wear or not to wear lipstick at the office has been the cause of huge debates.
Some are of the opinion that wearing bright and bold shades of lipstick to the office gives off an air of confidence. Others think that this can be too distracting.
In my opinion, however, I recommend playing it safe by choosing neutral or nude colours of lipsticks.
It’s also always safe to observe how your colleagues wear makeup at the office if you are fairly new.
Your eyes have the most don’ts when it comes to pulling off a subtle and acceptable office makeup look.
Avoiding glittering and bright coloured eyeshadows is always a plus. Smokey eyes are also a no go.
Settling on nude and neutral shadows goes a long way in looking professional and presentable at the office.
Fake eyelashes are also a no go. It’s always best to go for mascara, instead. However, don’t overdo the mascara or else you have to deal with clumpy lashes.
The trick to wearing makeup at the office is to always to do less.
