I was recently organizing my kitchen pantry after I had stocked up on some quarantine supplies then a light bulb just went off – Why have I been buying facial and body scrubs from the stores? They are in most cases ridiculously priced and with some questionable ingredients. Then I thought to myself, Why don’t I make homemade facial and body scrubs using natural ingredients from my kitchen? I mean, how else am I going to save for the post quarantine travel plans that I have? I got working and boy did I feel proud of myself afterwards!
These are the four easy Do It Yourself (DIY) body and facial scrubs that I whipped up and you too can try out from the comfort of your kitchen
- Honey + Sugar Scrub
Mix brown sugar and honey then apply the same in a circular motion on your face.
This scrub can be used on oily, flaky or combination skin to remove blackheads.
The scrub has a heavenly caramel scent.
The honey will replenish and hydrate your skin so do not worry about drying up your skin. We’ve got that covered!
- Green tea + Sugar body scrub
This scrub is made using contents from two green tea bags, a cup of white sugar and half a cup of melted coconut oil. Mix all ingredients and ensure to store in an airtight container when not in use.
This scrub is superb for the whole body.
It brightens the skin and gives you that impeccable glow.
Green tea is also an anti-inflammatory and can work wonders in soothing scars and blemishes.
- Ginger in Coconut Oil body scrub
This ginger-infused coconut oil sugar scrub can be used on the face and body. It is perfect for exfoliation and it helps to rejuvenate the skin and get rid of the dead skin cells.
The ginger is grated then mixed with sugar and coconut for that coarse texture.
In as much as it sounds counter-intuitive, an oil-based scrub does not cause your face to be greasy or oily. The healthy oils will dissolve the dirty oils on your skin leaving you with a clean, clear and moisturized natural skin.
- Sugar + Salt Scrub
Now this homemade can be made in under 45 seconds. No cap.
That is less time than it takes to do the dishes or brush your teeth,
All you need is sugar, salt, coconut oils and an essential oil of your choice.
Put all these ingredients in a bowl and use a fork to mix them and voila, you have your scrub.
Use it once a week to exfoliate and remove grime. It sets you up for a great week ahead.
