Hello everyone,

As 2017 comes to an end, we cannot forget that it has been the year of the off shoulder trend, and unlike many other trends, this one has to be one of my favorites.

What will surprise you however, is that the off shoulder style has been worn since the mid 1800’s and quite frankly, I am glad this style has sprung back into the fashion scene.

In today’s post, I will share with you 3 styling tips when it comes to wearing the off shoulder dress and some bonus tips for wearing any off shoulder garment, be it a top or a jumpsuit.

1. How to wear it.

Usually, an off shoulder dress has drooping sleeves, cut outs and low plunging neck lines and with a wrong bra, an off shoulder dress can end up looking bad.

This means that you must plan in advance how you are going to dress underneath, to ensure the overall look is put together.

Get a strapless bra, which may include, a corset bra, a silicon bra, or a bra top.  Always do away with any straps, when wearing any off shoulder clothing.

2. The right one for you

If you have broad and athletic shoulders, showing off a bit of your cleavage might be something you are not comfortable with.

With that in mind, a good option for you would be a one-shoulder shirt/blouse. It will make you more comfortable and less self-conscious.

For the petite and narrow framed ladies, always ensure that the shoulders are completely bare, as it is more flattering.

An off shoulder top will make a petite framed woman appear broader; therefore it is wise to balance the look with some skinny jeans or a pencil skirt. A round skirt would be overkill.

3. Where to wear it

I know the need to create a versatile wardrobe for most workingwomen. That said, the off shoulder style is not an every day look, but you can wear it on a semi professional setting/ work day, where you are required to dress smart casual.

For the weekend however, this trend is a must have. Be it for a wedding, a date with friends, a baby shower or a concert.

This style is a fashion statement and will work for any informal gatherings.

Hope you enjoyed this post and learnt something. I look forward to seeing you on the next one.
