20 Things I Wish I Could Tell My Younger Self

As this year comes to an end, I find myself reflecting on what an incredibly unpredictable year it’s been. 2020 has honestly been a rollercoaster of emotions for most of us. Living in fear for the last couple of months has had me put into perspective life in general. It’s made me appreciate my family, health and life in general. I’ve learned unimaginable lessons, had to reorganize my plans and live a day at a time. Every year, I try to make new year’s resolutions, but this year has made me realize that no matter how many plans you make, we can’t control nature and God’s plans. You would think that being in my 30s, I knew all this, but truth is, every day and year is a learning experience. Even so, I often find myself wishing I could tell my younger self some things about how life really works, about what’s real and true, and thereby dissolve some of the harmful preconceptions and assumptions I had way back then. That is a frustrating impossibility, but it’s worth thinking about. I’m not one to live in regret but we can all agree that we all have a few lessons we’ve learnt the hard way and if given the chance, we would tell our younger selves all about them. So, if you are reading this in your late teens or early 20s, I hope you learn a thing or two about my experiences and probably make better decisions than I did.

  1. Go for that trip
  2. Love with all your heart
  3. Don’t overthink it
  4. A man/relationship does not define you
  5. Love yourself
  6. Put yourself first
  7. Take care of your body health in general. Start healthy habits now. Make healthy life choices. Your body will thank you later – everything in moderation
  8. Allow yourself to dream and don’t limit your ambitions
  9. Choose a positive outlook in life
  10. Life is tough but you choose to fight and choose life every day
  11. Believe in something greater than you
  12. We are temporary, everything is. Don’t hold on too much to the things of the world
  13. Friends come and go, for a season, period. Allow yourself to grow
  14. Enjoy your own company
  15. Maintain your hobbies
  16. Failure is part of life
  17. Nothing is new under the sun
  18. Take responsibility for your life
  19. Don’t underrate the value of family
  20. Life owes you nothing
  21. We are not all meant to follow the same path or journey. Comparison is the thief of joy

What I would tell my younger self.. take time and choose your life partner carefully. The person you choose can either compliment or make your life miserable!

For a moment I’ve felt like I’ve found what I’ve been looking for. YOU! I feel motivated. For a long time I’ve been starting a blog and a youtube channel but I haven’t because of petty excuses and I think my time has come. I wanna fly.
I wish I could tell my younger self that you don’t have to prove to people anything. Be you. Be authentic. Be different.
    Thank you
